Tetra Pharm
Cannabinoids for Effective Treatment of Diseases

Over the last few decades, society’s perception of cannabis has shifted, leading to a rise in acceptance of its use. The ease of restrictions by governments has led pharmaceuticals to identify the potential medical applications of cannabinoid-based products, as well. Traditionally, pharmaceutical companies focused on developing cannabinoids that alleviated symptoms such as pain and inflammation, among other conditions in humans. Diving deeper into this process, Tetra Pharm develops pharmaceutical cannabinoids for therapies and drugs to treat diseases underlying the symptoms.

Tetra Pharm designs and develops an alternative approach to treating disease, put into action by a team of well-experienced professionals in the biopharmaceutical industry in Denmark, who have developed a thorough comprehension of the ailments people experience. Unlike other pharmaceuticals that create drugs and run trials to deduce clinical outcomes, the biotechnology firm uses a multi-sense centralized process based on valuable insights garnered by medical professionals, which serves as the foundation for further development. Incorporating the recommendation of doctors in the early stages of the development process reduces the time spent in research by eliminating multiple trials, as well as costs. With a streamlined process, Tetra Pharm ensures the price of the cannabinoid-based pharmaceuticals, paid for by the end-user, is drastically reduced.

The consumer-centered approach of creating cannabinoid therapies and drugs enabled Tera Pharm to develop cost-efficient products.

In addition to the therapies designed to treat diseases at their roots, the firm is set to release three products primarily meant for the treatment of pain. Catering to the increasing demand for pain medication in the market, the cannabinoid-based product can be accompanied by opioids, reducing instances of side effects and addiction.

“There’s a lot of talk going on about cannabinoid therapy replacing opioids to treat pain. But we think opioids and cannabinoids can complement each other in the treatment of pain,” says Martin Rose, Co-Founder and CEO of Tetra Pharm.

This approach to treatment of pain applies to mental health disorders as well, where cannabinoids can effectively replace medication for depression and anxiety. The prescription of SSRI’s and antidepressants increases the chances of dependency on the drug as a result of prolonged use. While high dosages of such drugs are necessary for extreme conditions, the administration of cannabinoid therapy and drugs developed by Tetra Pharm in combination with the SSRI’s and antidepressants reduces the severity of side effects for the user. The alternative treatment method also helps long term users of antidepressants to step away from the current medication, without experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms. In that light, Tetra Pharm’s research and development team is optimistic about cannabinoids replacing opioids for mild cases of pain as well as mental health disorders.

There’s a lot of talk going on about cannabinoid therapy replacing opioids to treat pain. But we think opioids and cannabinoids can complement each other in the treatment of pain

With the chances of cannabinoids taking over the treatment of pain and mental health disorders completely, Tetra Pharm is ramping up its manufacturing processes, preparing for the imminent rise in demand. Regulated by the Danish Medicines Agency, Tetra Pharm has its vision set on research and development of disease-treating pharmaceutical cannabinoids. With proficiency in the R&D, manufacturing and CMO stages of pharmaceutical development, the firm is well-positioned to absorb a massive increase in demand.
