Redefining Cell Counting and Analysis

In the rapidly evolving cell and gene therapy field, achieving precision, efficiency and reliability in cell counting and analysis is essential. Traditional processes often fail to deliver these results, as manual counting of cells is mired with the possibility of inconsistent results, human error and time delays. This necessitates simplifying cell sample handling and counting processes to facilitate reliable research outcomes.

ChemoMetec makes this possible by manufacturing automated cell counters and analysis equipment that bypass time-consuming and error-prone manual processes. Despite its small size, the company stands tall among industry giants with its high-precision instrumentation, aspiring to become a world leader in its niche.

The company’s instruments are crafted using high-quality materials, integrating advanced image analysis, and a proprietary technology platform to guarantee precise and consistent results. These consistently deliver accurate cell data for over 1500 customers across several industries, including biotech, pharmaceuticals, animal reproduction, breweries, agriculture, and academia.

“We are one hundred percent dedicated to providing expertise on cell counting and analysis, having all competencies and knowledge on board to support our users,” says Martin Helbo Behrens, CEO of ChemoMetec.

Customers prefer simplified sample handling, saving time, and speedy customer support when selecting an equipment partner. ChemoMetec’s flagship instruments are the NucleoCounter® series of image cytometers. They are low maintenance and suitable for scaling and process transfer. They come in two primary types—cassette-based and slide-based models.

The cassette-based system operates like a closed loop, featuring small channels inside. This enclosed system eliminates exposure to reagents as opposed to manual cell counting. Users can load the cell sample inside the cassette by pulling the piston and inserting the cassette into the cell counter instrument. It then guides the cell sample through pre-calibrated channels of the cassette, where dyes have already been added. Cell count and viability are displayed after just 30 seconds.

This system is a remarkable improvement from conventional cell counting methods, which typically involve manually counting cells under a microscope—a time-consuming process.

ChemoMetec’s slide-based instruments use a straightforward design with glass slides to house the cell samples. These instruments offer advanced assays, such as cell health, cellular redox, and apoptosis assays, in addition to cell count and viability protocols.

Apart from eliminating human errors and improving reproducibility, NucleoCounter® instruments are suitable for GMP manufacturing, making them an attractive option for big pharma and commercial manufacturing.

We are one hundred percent dedicated to providing expertise exclusively on cell counting and analysis of cells, and we have all the competencies and knowledge on board to support our users

One of its notable applications is in CART cell therapy, where healthy immune cells from patients are analysed throughout various stages of a patient's treatment. NucleoCounter® instruments also play a crucial role in clinical trials involving cell therapy, from preclinical phases through to commercialization.

Bolstered by the results driven by its technology, ChemoMetec is set to launch a new series of automated cell counters, starting with the XcytoMatic® 40. Produced to count highly dense cell samples, this instrument uses small containers of reagents integrated within the machine. The instrument efficiently determines and dispenses the required amount of dye and reagents for analysis, minimising the use of plastic consumables like cassettes or slides.

The scientists behind these technologies are ChemoMetec’s highly qualified team members with a profound understanding of laboratory operations. They are dedicated to addressing any questions or doubts our customers may have, even offering training for their staff.

ChemoMetec is dedicated to continuous improvement within its highly specialized cell and gene therapy niche. Embedding a commitment to service in its core ethos, the company is a reliable ally for researchers and organisations across diverse industries, fostering a supportive environment for cutting-edge research initiatives
