Angela van der Salm, DADA Consultancy | Life Science Review | Regulatory Services Company Of The Year In Europe

Cooperation 2.0 – not you and us, but we

Angela van der Salm, Director Pharmacovigilance, Managing partner , DADA Consultancy

Regulatory Partnership Steward

Editor’s Note: Life sciences organizations can no longer treat regulatory compliance as a siloed function disconnected from operational and patient outcomes. This viewpoint demonstrates why collaborative regulatory ecosystems are becoming essential for resilience, trust and sustained healthcare innovation.

DADA Consultancy, established in 1984 and based in Nijmegen, Netherlands, is a leading independent consultancy specializing in international regulatory affairs and pharmacovigilance for human and veterinary medicinal products. In 2024, we were granted the Life Sciences Review ‘Regulatory Services Company of the Year’ Award for the European territory, but DADA supports companies from around the globe.

To ensure DADA is an interesting company to work with and to work for, there are several factors that weigh in. Within our ISO 9001 certification, we have established several core values that are part of our mission statement:

1. Customer-Centric Approach: DADA maintains a clear focus on understanding and meeting customer needs, striving to provide cost-effective solutions that ensure overall customer satisfaction. All our clients are appointed a client manager and our bigger clienst have multiple, ensuring they have immediate access to the expert they need. We are often audited by our clients and are always open to share what we do and why we do it, so we can focus on establishing:

2. Long-Term Partnerships: our company values and maintains long-term relationships with our clients and with our partners offering complementary services, which enhances collaboration and ensures sustained success in navigating complex regulatory landscapes, which is reflected in our:

3. Adaptability to Regulatory Changes: DADA actively seeks scientific and regulatory advice from competent authorities, staying abreast of evolving guidelines and agency perspectives. This proactive approach helps avoid inappropriate decisions and keeps clients informed of current regulatory thinking, and also ensures that our colleagues can benefit from:

4. Continuous Learning and Development: we foster a culture of continuous learning, encouraging employees to stay updated with the latest developments in Regulatory Affairs, CMC, Pharmaceutical Safety and Efficacy, and Pharmacovigilance in a post-marketing and clinical setting. We are investigating where AI and/or automation can support our services, never forgetting that we should be of value to our clients. Our company is driven by its:

  • Our aim is to combine our services with our clients’ ultimate goal of meeting the needs and expectations of patients, ensuring that all efforts contribute to improved healthcare outcomes

5. Employee Engagement: Recognizing that its success is rooted in its people, DADA invests in the professional and personal development of its employees. This commitment fosters motivation and enhances the company's business potential. We ensure our processes are owned by the people conducting the activities, with regular monitoring and self-assessment, again to improve and facilitate learning and development and ensuring compliance to GxP requirements. All in all, together with our clients, we aim to offer:

6. Patient-Centered Services: our aim is to combine our services with our clients ultimate goal of meeting the needs and expectations of patients, ensuring that all efforts contribute to improved healthcare outcomes.

As we have experts in house from almost all sectors involved in the life cycle of a medicinal product, and external partners for those areas we do not cover internally, we can be involved at any step of medicinal product development, authorisation and marketing. By continuously learning, adopting automation and AI where it adds value, and by staying on top of regulations, understanding our clients needs, and being transparent and open for feedback, we aim to be a future-proof partner for our existing and potential new clients to improve patient access to safe and effective medicines.
